Before Her Disappearance

It was June 9, 2017 in the afternoon. Yingying Zhang was riding on a Champaign-Urbana Mass Trnsit District bus. This was in Urbana, Illinois. She was on her way to an off-campus apartment complex. She was planning to sign a new apartment lease there. Zhang was running late and sent a text message to the leasing agent. She sent the text at 1:39 P.M. Zhang intended to inform them that she would arrive at approximately 2:10 P.M. After riding on one bus, Zhang reportedly got off at 1:52 P.M. and tried to transfer to another. However, she got confused about the location of the bus stop. She flagged down the bus. But it passed without stopping.

Disappearance

After the bus whizzed by her, Yingying reportedly then walked to another bus. It was a few blocks away at the corner of North Goodwin Avenue and West Clark Street. It was directly in front of the University’s PBS radio and television station. Surveillance video cameras showed that a black Saturn Astra passed by Zhang at 2:00 P.M.. At the time, she was waiting at the bus stop. And then she circled back around and stopped where she was waiting at 2:05 P.M. Yingying spoke to the driver for approximately one minutes. Then she got back into the car. Zhang hasn’t been seen since.

How We Can Help

Yingying Zhang has been missing over seven months now. At first, any family focuses only on finding their own missing loved ones. They understandably may not be focusing on awareness for other missing cases. Certainly not at first. In the Find Yingying Group, I saw multiple posts of other missing cases posted. So it looks like Zhang’s family, sadly, have had to “arrive at the place” where they have expanded their search for Yingying to other missing persons. It is heartening that they help other families even in the midst of their own nightmare. So many families do that. Even while searching for their own missing loved ones, they keep themselves sane for being there for other families in the same boat.

This much-loved and treasured young woman is still missing. A person may be named a suspect in her case. But Zhang is still not home. Someone (s) knows something? Do you have any piece of information about the whereabouts of Yingying Zhang? Anyone else who may be involved in her disappearance? No piece of information is too small.
