Find Missing Jimmy Butler!

Jimmy Butler, 27, was last seen on Gulf Boulevard in South St. Petersburg, Florida on November 18, 2018 during Bike Fest. He was riding a white 2002 Honda F-41. Jimmy was wearing a black bike jacket with red trim. There is little physical description of Butler himself. The embedded image below indicates that Butler is married and has two children. According to press releases, he is a regular biker. His loved ones are desperately searching for him. Information in his case is limited.

TRAGIC UPDATE: The father of Jimmy Butler has posted a very lengthy, detailed, heartfelt tribute to his son:

I couldn’t sleep tonight…wait – I did for a short while. Then I walked through our “empty” home, realizing I was pacing because Jimmy isn’t here. I was sobbing like a baby who is hungry – I’m hungry for my son.

Jimmy meant so much to so many people. Please bear with me here because I have so many different things to say and I simply want to share these with everyone because today, I realized Jimmy isn’t mine any more. He’s been mine for the last 27 years, but I have come to realize I must change my thought process.

It is difficult to know that he is no longer with us, but it is turning out to be equally as difficult to share him with others. People grieve in different ways. As a parent who must lay their child to rest, it is so much harder now because you laid them down in their cribs and beds all those years knowing you were going to go to them the next morning to wake them up for the day ahead.

There are so many people I need to thank. I do have to put at the top of my list Matt Morrison, co-founder of 941Riderz. He organized so many different things with one thing in mind: Find Jimmy Butler. He truly is our living angel. I can’t thank the entire 941Riderz enough. If you see one, please do not take them as simply a bunch of biker gangs…these are working men and women just like you and me. They have family – I met a few little girls who have parents in the 941Riderz. I’m a little scared of bikes right now; otherwise, I would ask to join their group and ride with them.

Chris Hollywood took time out of his day to run his drone over the scene looking for Jimmy. Chris, please take my advice and do not feel guilt for not finding him. I’ve been told if it wasn’t for the workers, we wouldn’t have been able to find Jimmy for years. It is easy to feel guilty and very difficult to let go of the guilt. Please let go of the guilt and realize my family is in debited to you for your efforts. We don’t even know you, but you still took the time out to search for him.

Peace River K9 Search and Rescue Association are a group of dedicated volunteers. These folks asked difficult questions of me and then went out and searched tirelessly for Jimmy from our home up into St. Petersburg. They even scanned the waters and dove into the waters looking for Jimmy. Please take the time out of your days to thank the wonderful volunteers at Peace River K9.

There’s a helicopter pilot who owns a tour company. I don’t know his name, but he took Katie and Will up the second time to help search for Jimmy. One of his employees took the kids up the first time and when they came back for the second search, he put everything down and said he would personally take them up himself. He refused payment, and Katie tried to tip him, but he still refused. These are the acts of kindness I saw these last few weeks.

Durty Rodgiguez (I hope I have your name right) went into the waters near the phone’s last ping several times. I don’t know him, and I don’t believe he knows my family, but he still went into the water searching for my son. Talk about paying it forward. You are an amazing man Durty.

Jeff Moore of Florida Search and Recovery Dive Team worked endlessly with the authorities and kept the family informed. He coordinated the sonar searches and dove into the water when a potential ping came back that required further investigation. That is a wonderful thing you did for my family.

Hank Borek, a partner of a dear friend of mine – Sarah. He got this crazy idea to get the local fishing community involved. His idea blew me away. I wasn’t sure how to take this information and turn into actionable tasks, but he took it and ran with it. He simply was telling me what he was doing, he wasn’t just giving ideas and backing off. He just told me his idea and he told me not to worry about it that he’ll take care of it.

Lance McFarland is a special man. I want to thank him for something specific, but I want to keep it private. First, for allowing us to reach out to him and allowing us to speak with him. He was going to be there for us if needed and would reach out to us immediately when circumstances arose. Thank you Lance.

Amber Hersey, I’m sorry I didn’t get your name right in Saturday’s interviews. I didn’t have my glasses on, but I want to thank you for helping us coordinate the drones with all the other volunteers with drones.

Kinjal Patel, the 7-11 owner let us view the security video at his store. He didn’t have to cooperate with us at all. In fact, many store owners didn’t let us watch any video while we looked for clues. Kinjal did and I want to thank him. I buy my gas there on my way home from work. Let me tell you now, I will always buy my gas from you Kinjal. Thank you.

I want to thank the news media. SNN was the first at our home, so you will be in our hearts always. Thank you Jessica. My wife gave you a big hug and I wanted to thank you again. Fox 13 News, Channel 7 News, Channel 10 News, Channel 8 News, and Bay News 9. You guys may get a bad rap, but you are only doing your job. You were the ones who helped my family get the word out and help everyone realize how dire our situation really was.

Last, but not least – the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the St. Petersburg Police, and the Florida Highway Patrol. It was difficult when this “hell” started for my family. I heard plenty of disparaging things about you all, but it was difficult for my family while we waited for the steps to proceed through your process. Thank you to the detectives who helped us by staying in the skies looking for him, in the waters searching for him, and getting the word out. You even got the Coast Guard out there looking for our son.

I humbly sit hear writing this VERY long note to you, sometimes with tears running down my face. This has taken over an hour to write, but I feel I have an obligation to thank everyone individually. To everyone who posted on this page, thank you. I will try to reach out to each of you personally, but it may take a bit because there are literally thousands of messages. We reached over 325,000 folks here, so I have plenty of thank you’s to write (Yes, Aunt Linda and Aunt Babette, I do now how to write thank you notes!!).

Let me end this by saying a few more thank you’s. There’s an old saying: It takes a village to raise a child. This is a running joke in our neighborhood as we shorten it by saying “It takes a village”. Well, my village helped us, supported us, guarded us, befriended us, came to our every need, and continue to be our strength. Stacey, I have no words. I will be forever in your debt. Nancy, your support is incredible, and Jimmy’s other mom and her family can attest to this. Wendy, you were there at the right time to help with the babies. Joey, those sandwiches were a God-send!! The girls loved the coloring books and crayons!! Jaimie and Todd, you are going through your family problems, but you found your way over here anyway. The Powers family, you are going through your own hell and trying to recover, yet you come over here to help us and support us – where did you get the strength? God’s looking over Matt right now. Our church and Pastor Terry, your unending prayers and support went miles to help us get through this – I can’t find another word – hell we went through.

Jennifer, Colleen, the three sisters and the special little one, Katie, Will, Colt, and most importantly our granddaughter – I hope one day I can look at you and not cry because when I see you, I see Jimmy. He touched you in a special way and I only see him when I look at you. Please forgive me because there will be a day when I see you and only you.

We plan to keep this page open for a while as I realize people want to express their support, and again – everyone grieves in different ways. I beg for everyone’s patience as I will get through all the posts with some sort of thank you, not a machine generated one, but a personal thank you. You poured your hearts and prayers to us, so I feel an obligation to do so with each and every one of you.

You have heard me say it over and over again – Everyone, please give your children a hug every time they leave the house and always tell your family, even the hated ones, that you love them. Family comes in many different forms, but the children are the gifts from God to us.

Funeral Plans: Visitation is at 9:00 AM Eastern and the funeral services are at 11:00 AM Eastern at Living Lord Lutheran Church (11107 Palmbrush Trail, Bradenton, FL 34202). Please donate on the Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/donate/264410564256726/?fundraiser_source=external_url) we set-up to help with final expenses and help with the affected children.

I love you all and will be forever grateful to the outpouring of support shown here. I have to let go and give my Jimmy to you all, because after all, he is #EveryonesJimmy.
