Alissa Albizu’s disappearance is considered a voluntary one. She may have left of her own volition over two years ago. Police have limited resources. And when they classify a missing person as a runaway, they may believe that this means the missing person may be safe. Or, especially if the person is an adult, the missing person has a “right” to disappear. And so, guess what? Authorities don’t feel the need to fully investigate these cases with the urgency they would accord these cases if they suspected foul play. Alissa’s family seem to have no social media presence. So there is no telling what they feel about how she went missing, or the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. But someone (s) is missing her right now.
